Pulse Quality Survey

A pulse crop quality survey has been conducted in the USA every year since 2008. The goal of the Pulse Quality Survey/Program is to provide industry, academic and government personnel with readily accessible data on pulse quality and to provide science-based evidence for the utilization of pulses as whole foods and as ingredients in food products.

Samples of commercially grown peas, chickpeas, lentils and fababeans are collected from the major pulse growing regions across the US and submitted to Dr. Cliff Hall at SDSU. Samples are analyzed for composition, physical parameters and physical characteristics.

We encourage South Dakota pulse producers to participate in this program. Information on where to send samples can be found on the Pulse quality survey form at the link below.
Samples will also be collected by the SD Pulse Council. Contact director@sdpulsegrowers.org for more information.

Two-pound samples are preferred. Please include; grower name, variety, plant and harvest date.
